YAKS ON THE WATER

I thought Jeffrey was kidding about getting the ‘yaks out when I landed. He was not lol.

He picked me up at the airport around 10 and we had already dropped in on the Milwaukee River an hour later for some midnight kayaking, guerilla style through the heart of downtown. The trip took us all the way to the FiServ Forum and back, about a 3 hour excursion when all said and done. I have no idea if it was legal or safe to be out there but there was no one tell us otherwise. There were portions of it that felt so surreal, being surrounded by a major metropolitan city and, I repeat, NO ONE WAS AROUND. There were skyscrapers on either side of us yet all you could hear was paddles hitting the water. Felt like a zombie movie. 10/10 would do again immediately.

Just behind the Hoan Bridge is Lake Michigan and it was the darkest black I’ve ever seen, it honestly looked like the edge of the earth. Jeff wanted to go out there but I told him we’re saving that for next time.
