ME VS. ME
I found this park by accident while on a morning run last spring and it jumped out to me for a couple reasons.
First, there’s no parks in Myrtle, so that fact it existed was a surprise to me at all - it’s actually hidden in plain sight right off Ocean Blvd - and second, that it had a beautiful stone chess board set up in the heart of the park.
I snapped a phone shot and got to brainstorming. Inspired by the visit and a Moneybagg Yo lyric, I spent the next couple weeks shopping for the most photogenic chess set I could find (I now own three chess sets lol) and showed up early one morning with a tripod and a couple outfits. I set up camp and shot these over the course of Sunday morning, changing outfits in the bushes lol.
Edits took another 5-6 hours, turning it into a 15+ hour project altogether… but honestly it was worth it, the photos turned out exactly how I planned them in my head, and there’s no better feeling as a photographer.
