THE AQUARIUM
I live a couple blocks from Ripley’s so its a shame that I haven’t been in there since pre-pandemic but a recent visit from my little sister finally changed that. Visually it’s a photographer’s dream, sure, but it’s also one of the more challenging indoor settings I can think of. My auto-focus uses a sensor that for all intents and purposes is a flash so I shot everything manual (no flash allowed!) That plus reflections off the glass, unpredictable moving subjects and trying to stay out of the way of tourists makes it All-Madden level shooting. My sister was very patient, which was nice, but even still all day wouldn’t have been enough. I could shoot just the jellyfish for a week straight. Gotta get back there solo and really camp out. For now, here are some of my favorites from that visit.
