MARY IN MARION
As a former Marion resident (I lived one step inside the city limit for a handful of years in the mid 2010’s) its now nearly unrecognizable to me for a couple reasons:
A.) It’s done some serious growing up - they’ve gotten progressive with the area and creative with the changes they’ve made. I was really impressed.
And B.) unfortunately, the derecho. It knocked out so many trees that I almost got lost running around the neighborhood because I didn’t recognize the parks at first… and I lived there for three years lol. Hard to believe how much damage it did, and it can honestly bring a tear to your eye if you think about it too long. I got absolutely cooked on that run, no shade anywhere.
But one of the great additions to Marion is the new library. This place was incredible. A recording studio, a green screen room, a quilt maker and a rooftop patio with a fireplace - all things I didn’t expect to find, and none of which I’ve seen elsewhere. I can’t imagine having some of those resources as a kid. I’m betting there’s incredible stuff that comes out of that building in the future.
With all that creative energy flowing through the space it’s only right that we set up shop real quick and had a mini-shoot through an orange tinted window in the lobby.
