HOLY CITY SUNDAY
I never let him finish this sentence.
Of course I fuckin wanna go to Charleston this weekend.
Any time I can steal a ride to the finest city in America, I jump on it. And I will volunteer to drive the way back.
While I tried to keep it moving most of the day - I was hunting color match shots, looking for Vince, and trying to stay out of the sun - I did stop to hang out here for probably twenty minutes. Just too pleasant to walk by without calling a timeout.
The shot above is probably my favorite of the day, for one reason: it completed a set that I had been working on for the last couple trips, one where I’m capturing Charlestonians dressed like their surroundings. It’s like a living, constantly changing scavenger hunt that requires skill and timing. The goal? Trying to find outfits that coordinate with different Charleston scenes in an eye-pleasing way, then actually executing the photo. It makes me feel so alive.
I was already trying to figure out how to shoot this vintage Ford Bronco when I saw this couple approaching about a block down and knew it was game time. I manually focused on the tree and sat patiently like a sniper, hoping that he would drop far enough behind his wife that I would get a shot of just him in his matching shirt. Things went my way and he did drop back, allowing time for one snap.
See the rest of that [ongoing] collection here.
Some things that caught my eye on a beautiful Holy City Sunday morning.
UNTIL NEXT TIME CHARLIE <3
