RANDA, SWITZERLAND
“We’ll cross that bridge when we get there”
Randa is not a big place.
The main reason that anybody would visit this tiny little town is that it sits at the base of a mountain that is home to the world famous Europaweg Skywalk.
Much of the hike looked like this. It was pretty, but it was really steep. A very challenging first hour, and the anxiety of the bridge looming ahead only exacerbated that.

I SWEAR MY MOTHER RAISED ME TO BE SMARTER THAN THIS
Most of these photos were taken blindly. I mean, I could see, and I knew what I was shooting. But I didn’t even glance at the camera. I was just firing away and holding on for dear life.
The chain link sides were the same exact fencing that I jumped over in my neighborhood as a kid. The whole thing was just nuts and bolts. It swayed in the wind, which for me was much worse than the height. I’m not afraid of heights but I am afraid of falling, and with the bridge moving back and forth the entire way, it always felt like you were bracing yourself just before a fall. Pretty horrifying experience to be honest.
But I got some pretty photos!
“Hello from the other side”
SLAPPED.
All in all was it worth it? Probably not! Only because this was not a ‘point A to point B bridge’. There was no reason for us to cross it other than to say we did, which is what it is. Wouldn’t do it again but it’s now a feather in my cap.
